Binnu VS Paolo:The Series
Binnu VS Paolo is the name of a series of works dedicated to the evil and to man’s fears. The series depicts the fight between me (Paolo) and Binnu, alias Bernardo Provenzano, Mafia’s godfather recently arrested in Italy after more than 40 years on the run. Every work depicts a single aspect of the evil: drugs, homicides, death, crimes. It is a sort of struggle, a match between myself and the evil; soon I will fight other struggles, I will meet other enemies.
Technique
The works are realized on wooden panels with the ancient “buon fresco” on wet plaster technique, but with the modern methods of stencil-art: the photographs, most of all taken from report articles, have been digitally elaborated, in order to get an essential and expressive black and white image. Then I print out the image and I perforate the paper along the lines of the cartoon drawing, leaving a visible trace on the plaster.
Who is Binnu??

The man considered to be the head of the Sicilian Mafia, Bernardo Provenzano, has been arrested after four decades on the run.
Police said Mr Provenzano, deemed the country's most wanted man, was arrested in Sicily.
He was born in the village of Corleone, long associated with the Mafia.
He is believed to have taken over the Sicilian Mafia after the 1993 arrest of former boss Salvatore "Toto" Riina in the town of Palermo.
He was arrested in the countryside near where his wife and daughter live, wearing a pullover and jeans.
He is said to have refused to speak to the police officers who arrested him.
Now 73, his disguises and daring are legendary, says the BBC's David Willey in Rome.
He devised a personal protection system to escape arrest and never communicated with his friend except by written notes, our correspondent says.
